Co-founder Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein have enlisted an impressive roster of musical luminaries for the forthcoming LP, including former Smiths guitar maestro Johnny Marr, Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock, and Beirut mastermind Zach Condon, among several other notable figures.

Alongside the album announcement, the band has released its blistering lead single, “Spectral Eyes,” which was written and performed with the assistance of Johnny Marr. The track is currently available on all major streaming and purchasing platforms, offering fans their very first taste of the new era.

Titled High Noon, the full-length record is scheduled to arrive on February 26, 2027, via BMG. Significantly, the upcoming album will also serve as the final recorded work to feature the band’s legendary co-founding drummer, Clem Burke, who passed away last year at the age of 70. Burke’s enduring rhythm and unmistakable style have been foundational to Blondie’s sound since the band emerged from New York City’s mid-1970s CBGB punk and new wave scene, making his final studio performances an emotional and vital piece of the group’s ongoing legacy.

Reflecting on the creation of the new record, frontwoman Debbie Harry discussed the artistic approach behind the project in an official press release accompanying the announcement. She noted that the release captures the quintessential essence of the band while looking firmly toward the contemporary landscape.

“This album is classic Blondie—an amalgamation of all our different influences and eras into something new,” Harry stated. “This music feels grounded in the present, shaped by who we are and how we’re living now.”

Co-founder Chris Stein offered a similarly candid perspective, echoing the surreal longevity of a career that spans multiple decades of shifting musical movements. Stein reflected on the journey that brought the group to this latest milestone, expressing appreciation for the continuous dedication of their global fanbase.

“It’s been a long, strange ride, and somehow here we are with another Blondie album,” Stein remarked. “I’m not sure what the fuck I’m supposed to say at this point, except that we’re incredibly grateful for all your support over the years.”

High Noon marks the band’s first major studio collection since the release of their critically acclaimed 2017 album, Pollinator. In the years between major studio releases, Blondie has remained active through various interim projects, releases, and performances, including Vivir en la Habana, the recorded audio accompaniment to a live concert film of the same name that captured the group’s rare and vibrant cultural exchange performances in Cuba.

Continuing the sonic continuity established on their previous full-length release, the new record reunites the band with producer John Congleton, who helmed the sessions for Pollinator. Additionally, David Wrench has contributed his expertise to the project, providing crucial additional production and mixing to shape the album’s expansive sound. The album’s dense sonic tapestry is further enriched by guest vocal and instrumental contributions, including appearances from Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of the acclaimed indie-pop duo Lucius, rounding out a collaborative environment that brings together several generations of distinct musical talent.

The complete tracklist for High Noon highlights a diverse thirteen-song sequence that traces the band’s dynamic range, moving from high-energy collaborations to introspective lyrical compositions. The album opens with the Johnny Marr-assisted lead single “Spectral Eyes” and winds its way through twelve subsequent tracks: “Heartbreak Kid,” “Come Back Home,” “Tambo Tambo,” “Man Who Had No Face,” “The End,” “Little Metal Drummer,” “Sleepwalking,” “Whistle Into the Wind,” “Antifreeze,” “East of Eden,” “Bad Underwear,” and the poetic closer “Ah, Sunflower, Weary of Time.”

As the release date draws closer, fans and critics alike are turning their attention toward February 2027 to witness how Blondie marries their pioneering 1970s and 1980s aesthetic with the modern contributions of Congleton, Marr, Matlock, Condon, Lucius, and the late, great Clem Burke.

New wave icons Blondie are officially preparing to release their first studio album in nearly a decade, a landmark project that will feature a host of legendary guest contributors alongside the band’s core architects.
